Dear friend,

    We’re calling it the “Sell-out of the century.”  

    The NRA-McCarthy/Schumer Gun Control Act (formerly HR 297 now morphed into HR 2640) was dead...

 ...until NRA leadership dove under the radar and snuck the anti-gun bill through the US House with only a voice vote.

    HR 2640 is the National Instant Check System (NICS) expansion bill that will feed the federal gun control monster with state-level health record data about YOU.  

    The bill is supported by notorious anti-gunners like the Brady Campaign (formerly Handgun Control Inc.), U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D) and Sen. Charles Schumer (D). Now the National Rifle Association has joined this lawless, gun-banning gang — standing shoulder-to-shoulder with our enemies!  

    H.R. 2640 will deny thousands, maybe even hundreds of thousands of gun owners — including many combat veterans — their right to buy guns. They will be labeled “mentally ill” without any due process to establish that claim.
 
    The government will know everything about you; one click away in a federal computer database. 

    If that doesn't scare you nothing will.
 
    Alan Korwin, a nationally recognized gun-law expert, makes this astute observation:

"Using 'gun control' for political cover [the Brady Law, passed with NRA and Brady Campaign support]...began the process of building a computer capable of identifying and checking every American citizen instantaneously.   The main problem for years has been getting all the data."
 
    The NRA-McCarthy/Schumer Gun Control Act solves that “problem.”
 
    Under this legislation, the feds will be able to take away your guns with arbitrary designations of "mental illness."

    And with this system, Department of Homeland Security designations could be entered into NICS — designating gun owners like you as “Enemy Combatant.”

    Contrary to the “spin” NRA leadership is putting on this gun-grab bill, once you are denied your right to buy a gun it will be virtually impossible to get your name off the denial lists.

    And you could be denied your right to buy a gun simply because your doctor prescribed something as harmless as an anti-depressant. 

    It doesn't take much to imagine the scenario:

    "I'm very sorry we can't sell you this handgun," the gun dealer tells you as he snatches what was to be your new hunting revolver from your hand. "FBI denied your background check. Said something about you being 'mentally defective.' Sorry."

    As you leave the gun shop you're confused, infuriated and empty-handed. You've never committed a crime in your life. You're a hunter education safety instructor, a father, a life-long sportsmen, a military veteran and are active in your church. Yet somehow a bureaucrat who knows nothing about you claims you're a mental case.

    Finally you remember: almost two decades ago, your family doctor sent you to see a "specialist" who prescribed anti-depressants for a temporary bout of depression you were dealing with after your father passed away. In hindsight, the pills didn't help much and it all seemed so innocent at the time.

    But that was then and this is now -- when law-abiding gun owners get entangled in the nets of the NRA's new-and-improved federal gun control scheme: NICS.

    This isn't a pie-in-the-sky scenario, I assure you.

    It could becoming frighteningly real in just a few days unless you act now!
 
    The institutional gun-lobby and Democrat leaders have knifed gun owners in the back.

    You must act, and act now, or forever hold your tongue.
