Today the Associated Press quoted Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper as saying the “time is right” for gun control.
RMGO and it’s thousands of members disagree, and we’re going to fight these gun control measures with everything we have -- and hold politicians accountable for their votes. Anyone reading this article knows gun control doesn’t stop criminals. Even Governor Hickenlooper knows that -- that’s what he said right after the Aurora theater shooting, before the gun control lobby strong-armed him into changing his tune.
Much like after the Columbine tragedy of 1999, my office is inundated with e-mails and phone calls from gun owners who ask:
“Can we beat these gun controls?” “How can I help?”
So, using my 20 years of experience as a gun lobbyist as a guide, let me answer those questions.
Can we beat these gun controls?
Without the help of large numbers of dedicated gun owners, a smart strategy and the resources we need to activate our side, no, we can’t. That’s why your involvement and help is so important. There are many, many ways we can lose this fight.
One is to give in or compromise. At a recent gun show, one local so-called gun rights group leader was caught saying just that. He said “Gun control is going to pass. We’re not even going to fight it.” That kind of defeatist attitude is self-fulfilling.
It’s how the Brady Bill became law, how the original Congressional assault weapons ban was enacted in 1994, and, unfortunately, it’s how gun control is likely to pass in the 2013 Colorado General Assembly. It’s time for ALL gun rights activists here in Colorado to dig in and fight back. I’m more than ready to lead the RMGO gun rights army in this battle.
But you and I cannot win unless RMGO has all the financial resources necessary to fight back and mobilize Second Amendment supporters across the state.
To help RMGO in this battle to defeat gun control, please click here to make a generous contribution of $100, $50, $25 or whatever you can afford.
Thanks, in advance, for your support.
I’m out the door right now to conduct an interview with a local television station (Channel 4 at 10 PM tonight) -- but I'll be sure to keep you updated on any new developments.
